The Medicare provider organization and the employer organization that manages enrollment information on its behalf are established via the PECOS I&A system. The Authorized Official is required to register the provider organization. New users subsequently complete the registration process, during which they indicate their relationship to the provider organization (either as employed directly by the provider organization or by the employer organization working on behalf of the provider organization) and submit requests for access to the Authorized Official. The Authorized Official’s approval allows a user to submit an enrollment application for the provider organization. However, an approved SCF is required before users can view and update the provider organization’s existing enrollment records in Internet-based PECOS.
